Built by artist Florica P.Kyriacopoulos over a period of nearly 40 years, the FKPCOLLECTION started as a collection of contemporary artworks that included paintings, sculptures, mixed media, installations, photography and video. Mostly contemporary art, today it also includes works and drawings of modern art, dating back to the early 20th century, as well as a growing section of 19th century Japanese prints. Over time the collection also expanded to include Asian, African and Tribal Art, Contemporary Craft Objects, Ceramics, Vintage furniture and objects, as well as many collectibles. The collection numbers nearly 300 artworks and more than 300 artifacts. While large and significant, it remains a very personal collection, curated by the collector herself, bearing the imprint of the artist’s eye and viewpoint on every chosen item. Florica Kyriacopoulos often uses items of the collection as her own material to create installations, art compositions and environments. These newly - composed works become a lively part of private, professional or public spaces, infusing them with a singular spirit and poetry. Under the directorship of Alexandros J.Stanas, the FKPCOLLECTION is completing its documentation. It will then be available to researchers, curators and cultural organizations for exhibitions, loans and other synergies.
