Phoenix Athens is a non-profit gallery and residency space in Athens Greece that was started in November 2017 by artist and founder Dimitri Yin. The Residency program, Villa Exarcheia features three-to-eight-week residencies to international students and practitioners in art and design who wish to produce and exhibit work that is inspired or informed by Greece. A gallery program offers two spaces for exhibitions, allowing residents and locals to share their views about art and engage with the community through talks and workshops. Mentorship and guidance is provided to residents with networking opportunities also made available through the public programme and events held at partner galleries, art spaces and museums. Phoenix Athens seeks to provide an inclusive and democratic model for the arts, serving as a bridge between generations as well as communities of individuals. The project is guided by the belief that the challenges to be found in Greece present an exciting opportunity for artists to develop dynamic work and propose new solutions and perspectives in the urban context. Groups exhibitions are welcome, and applicants are required to submit a proposal at least three months in advance. Phoenix Athens features two gallery/workshop spaces respectively located on 87 and 89 asklipiou. If you are interested in using this space for projects or exhibitions please contact us.
