I was there on January 2017. The church is situated on the top of the Mount Lycabettus peak. It takes around one hour hiking from ground. Though it costs time and energy to reach there, but it was worthwhile once I reached on the summit! From the peak, one can see the whole Athens panoramic views. Evening or Morning would be the best time visit this place.

It was lovely hike. I guess I was a bit wrong way to go up, but I arrived the top. The view to Athens was great. I spent some time there and watching lovely kids and their family. I met very lovely local family, with 2 little daughters. I did not want anything but father wanted to give me a gift, as I took a nice pictures for them. They said it was the first family trip for them, and stunned to see me how far I flew in. I had nice chat and I still have the fan they gave me as a souvenir. Thanks!

The big of Athens it’s really amazing from the church of Saint George. You can walk to the top or use the transportation. Also there is a restaurant with stunning views. I preferred to walk and enjoy more spots to enjoy the views.

Visiting Athens it just looking for a beautiful view, This spot is wonderful for overlooking the city of Athens along with the Acropolis, and even better at night!

A very nice place with an amazing view, you can see whole Athens from above.. you can go up to the church either walking or by a short cable car that goes up each 30 mins. You can enter the church, light candles, take photos, pray if that’s what you do. There’s a small shop for beverages and another for accessories besides the church. There are also a couple of restaurants which i haven’t tried. And the weather up there in the summer is perfect. I recommend you visit this place at least once if you were going to Athens.

Much better view of the city than from Acropolis. Watching the sunset and the city lights slowly turning on... absolutely priceless!

A quaint small church with probably the best views from the hill top. Lovely paintings inside and an stunning silver relief of St George slaying the dragon. If you up the hill for the view, visit the church and leave a donation and light a candle if you like.
