The epicentre of Athens!
Pretty busy quite filthy. Small station for a large amount of people.
This New Omonia Square all cleaned with fountains gave the area a different look.. Had a chance to get a fairly good shoot as we drove pass by it..
BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS A group of 8-10 criminals operates at this station to pick the pockets of unsuspecting tourists. I was boarding an M1 line train today towards Piraeus - about 2-3 people rushed in right in front of me and then immediately stood at the doorway so I had to squeeze past them to get on. Another 3-4 people (who appeared to be completely unrelated at the time) pushed in from behind, essentially sandwiching me in the middle. While we were all shuffling around to move into the car, I felt a hand in my trouser pocket trying to fish out my wallet. I immediately turned around and barked at the guy, pushing him right back. The guy threw up his empty hands and his companions gave me this we-did-no-nothing look. Knowing that their mission had failed, the perpetrator and his companions got out of the train. All of a sudden, the group of people who blocked my way in at the start (about 2-3 of them, men and women), and a few other random people standing at different parts of the car (another 2-3 of them, men and women), all rushed out of the train car right before the train doors were to close. They all huddled up back on the platform looking for their next victim boarding the next train, while the locals on the train and on the platform saw what had happened and did absolutely nothing.
A good point that combine a lot of transports.
Neglected infrastructure, shows its true age...
In my opinion, it is a nice station with beautiful unique decorations diff from all other stations.
