It is like walking into another time and place. It is a sort of history of how communities worked and survived in a past time

A nice little museum with reminders of how Greek life once was. Present day: The needlework on display by mama can probably be adapted into some great COVID-19 face masks and would make for some cool souvenirs! A little Greek dancer or sunflower maybe!
The “Folklore Museum of Chania - The Cretan House” is actually here. Very nice little museum. You can see many old tools and artifacts and get an idea of how the Cretan villagers used to live. Some of the rooms feel like a room from their actual houses. I especially loved the embroidered fabrics
The Folklore Museum is above the shops on Chalidon, opposite the metropolitan cathedral. Each room contains a diorama of Cretan countryside or a domestic activity, all home made and wonderfully executed. It really is worth a visit, though note that there is no disabled access - there are some steep steps. One room is set aside to display some wonderful Naif scenes depicted in needlework. These are for sale and, whilst not cheap, they're really unusual and well executed, and the museum is worth visiting just to admire these. I couldn't quite stretch to one of these, but at least i have a photograph of one which you can see here. Enjoy!
Highly recommend! One of my highlights. Made with love and you can tell, the lady working in the back on her embroidery was also very friendly and sweet, her work is amazing! Worth a visit just to see her incredible embroidery. 11/10
If textiles are your thing pop in it is lovely. It's only2... And just shows a bit about Cretan life
We enjoyed visiting the museum. It's nice cosy and "homemade". Really worth visiting for 2 euros. My 5 y.o. daughter loved it. I recommend!
Perhaps the best museum in Chania.
