In my opinion, this harbor (including the lighthouse) is the most charming, and idyllic man-made structure in Crete. It was built in the 14th century and now is packed with bars, cafes, restaurants, night clubs, taverns, etc. Many people think that the very end of the harbor, right where it reaches the breakwater is where the best sea food restaurants are located. I prefer the ambiance of this part of the harbor better than the rest, as it gets less crowded and is more quiet.

Beautiful place to take a walk, a must if you are in Chania in fact. It is worth it to take the walk out to the lighthouse. The view is beautiful. There are some great restaurant to eat down there, but ask a local for a recommendation. Salis is a good choice on the water, Tamam an amazing one just one block in

Magical. Historically fascinating and a very relaxed spot to stroll around. The old mosque has become a fancy art gallery and part of the Venetian shipyards were restored a few years ago to host the yacht club. A few nice taverns among plenty of run-of-the-mill establishments. Find them! A half day is necessary to break through the touristy gloss of Chania and discover a lived-in city with great little shops and inviting back streets.

A very beautiful old Venetian harbour a must visit when in chania. Consider taking a walk all the way to the lighthouse and enjoy the lovely sunset while dining in a local authentic taverna and enjoying the fresh seafood and nice glass of local wine. Such a treat after a long day.

For those cruising, this is the perfect tour. From the cruise port there is a bus that takes you to the wonderful city center of Chania. The city has many bars, shops, entertainment, museums and is very clean! Loved it, I intend to return one day.

Wonderful place !!! Historical harbor of Chania built by Venetians in 13th century. You can find everything there to eat or drink. Also a very good place for a walk in the evening or to see the sunset walking or while you sit on port's huge stone walls!!! Some buildings is reconstructed from the buildings of old town and have very long history. This place attracts almost everyone from nearby towns and villages and is full of people especially on August. There are some parking lots nearby but it is still difficult to find free parking space near the old port in high season.

Beautiful harbour in a lovely town with many back streets to wander through. Some excellent restaurants and bars and something to photograph on every corner.

Very few places of this kind – and with this history and scenery – in this world.
