Action For Education

Action for Education is an independent, grassroots organisation founded in the UK in 2017. We’re committed to breaking down barriers to education and this means our education centres are versatile spaces that not only provide lessons and classrooms, but also offer services (nutrition, protection, sanitation) that support learners in accessing these spaces. We’re a 100% volunteer team of teachers and youth workers, bringing our extensive experience in education to a grassroots, emergency context. AFE is registered as both a Greek nonprofit and a UK restricted fund under the auspices of Prism The Gift Fund, registered charity no. 1099682, offering us the greatest flexibility in our work. Building on our work with refugee children and youth on Chios where we operate a Youth Centre and Learning Centre, we also operate additional centres in Athens and Samos. In Athens we run an education programme for vulnerable refugee women and girls. In Samos, we’re running a community centre for youth aged 18 - 23 as well as a nutrition programme, Computer Lab and Early Childhood Learning Space.
