I did a 12-Day Competent Crew & Day Skipper combined course at Aegean Sailing school. A typical day involves some theory and practical learning, sailing to different ports, awesome greek food, stunning waters of the Saronic Gulf and at the end of the day, dinner with fellow students on the other boats of the school coming from all over the world. The instructors of the Aegean Sailing school are immensely experienced and very friendly. We got lots of practice bringing the boats into and out of the harbours, planning the routes, making decisions and playing around in the wind. This sailing course was an incredible experience, highly recommend Aegean Sailing school.

Don’t go there! We contacted the school 5 days in advance to have a day with instructors on our boat. The first reaction was “it will cost you 150...” even before asking what we need. Next, it wasn’t straightforward to get direct contact with the guid Nick... eventually we set to meet today at 10am. We planed our days accordingly. Nick was late. We met at 11am. Than it was clear that he has another job and he did everything to evaded us and say the wind is too strong, etc... we are on sea now. Wind is 8 knots on our way to Poros to find a more professional and reliable place

We just completed a day skipper course. We took a private course. Instructor lacked of organisation and knowledge on instruments, he did not even know how to use a sonar and an autopilot...on the rest he had a good knowledge. We had plenty of available time as they normally run the course with 4/5 students on a yacht. We were only two and still it felt like we were never stopping for 5 days. It did not feel like a holiday. Communication was not up to standards. Mid course debrief we’re doing fine. One day later “passed the course but need more practice on some areas”, instructor never offered to practice more those areas! Final report was inconsistent with his speech and mid course briefing. That’s what not fair. Instructor was focusing way too much on a syllabus instead of seeing the big picture and focusing on areas were we could have more practice. For example, suggesting to put the sails up even when wind is almost inexistent! Unnecessary workload... Yacht maintenance could be improved as well, as the equipment had issues during the course. On the other hand administrative staff was great. Helena and her colleague always were there to help. Yacht had good performances. Location of school is great. Our instructor was calm and very polite. Chief instructor is highly qualified. Suggestions. Sailing is simple and people should keep it simple, fun and safety oriented.

Aegian sailing school has very professional instructors with a lot of experience under belt. I learned a lot during the 5 days of the course and the boat was pretty well maintained.I also met a lot of interesting and passionate people. You will also have time to enjoy, have a few swims and socialise with great people. Overall it was a GREAT experience, couldn't recommend it more.
