The beach itself is not one of the best in Crete, but it has a number of advantages in a combination hard to find elsewhere. It is not organised, so take advantage of the shade the trees right on the sand offer. It is very long and for me the best part is on the right side, looking out to the sea, where the wind surfing facilities are. And yes, you guessed it, it is an ideal wind surfing beach, attracting enthusiasts from all over. The wind does pick up, but there are no waves. But it is also ideal for families with little children for the exact same reason. Shallow waters and no waves.

I love this place and visit each trip to the island. The last bit of the road leading to the beach is a dirt track but so worth it. Great coffee / snack bar, free sun loungers and a couple of wind surfing places where you can rent boards or take lessons. It is usually quite windy here - hence the surfing - but I like it, on very hot days it makes the heat bearable. There are a couple of good restaurants further up the beach and different self catering places of you want to stay for a couple of nights. Remote, quiet and absolute bliss. May go back tomorrow.
Great place to be. During off-season a quiet place with very friendly and hospitable people. We enjoyed every day at this location.
We fell in love with this place - fantastic location right on the beach, great food and nice staff. One day we had our breakfast at Konaki right in the Palekastro's square and could not regret that more - Surf Beach is just unbeatable!
A verry nice place to relaxe and enjoy the good coffe, snacks and the mint tee
Super beach bar that serves some basic dishes ( fresh salads, sandwiches and daily specials). However the location is outstanding, directly at the sea behind some trees at the end of a dead end road
Nice bay for wind surfing . almost like a flash back to the early days of the California coast... and a nice cafe.
Be aware, not a pet friendly place and unacceptable manner to behave to customers.
