A masterpiece of architecture and landscape design, Athens' new Opera house and the National Library is a must for those who enjoy contemporary architecture. The complex has a terrace has a panoramic view of Athens and Phaliron bay and is surrounded by a Mediterranean park.

The new opera house of Greece is magnificent! It is part of Stavros Niarchos Cultural Centre that includes a huge park and the national library. Tickets are inexpensive and some times they offer performances with free admission. In front of the building you can enjoy the dancing fountains, the latest addition of this amazing park. Highly recommended.

One of the best operas in Europe...the most modern one for granted!

We normally do not go for coffee or for a walk when going to the opera or any theatre for that reason but this foundation has grounds which are a spectacle and you can have every everthing under one roof. It's actually the best place any family or couple or even alone go and enjoy. I admit the area may be located centrally but it seems your in another city. It takes you away from it all with its archetecture and its design internally. Probably one of the must sees in Athens, which is not ancient, and is worth every minute there. If we are speaking about it as a hall, then you can only close your eyes and imagine a newly built arena with the highest standards. The one picture you see below is myself with a soloist from an evening I went to hear Gershwin. Oh, did I mention there is parking as well? So if your in town, give yourself some spirited time off and go check it out. It's free!

nice modern opera house with a capacity of 1400 people that for sure scores maximum stars. Given score of one is for the following reasons that for sure they will destroy the whole experience: 1) two revolving doors not helping entering into the building 2) two elevators (capacity of 26 people each one) for five floors and 1400 visitors 3) personnel not professional, training is required 4) even when a play has started, late visitors were allowed to enter the hall 5) there are number of seats indicated as low visibility ones that are not sold out via internet We found about them after a long conversation at the ticket sales 6) there is no public transport to use 7) access roads especially the exit of the parking is a joke: one lane available on a two direction road because of the parked cars 8) for last, the factor that is the worse in ruining your experience is the visitors themselves: posh, high class, educated people that have no manners, they are rude, and have a loud opinion about everything I would.love to see another opera play in the particular place, but considering the aforesaid, I have second thoughts Your choice, you have been warned ;)

Getting ready for Xmas festivities it's a very nice place to promenade. For the SNFCC events there is still some way to run... But I hope they will find their way. So do not be surprised in case irrational things happen around you
