Amazing you should visit
I'm sure this sanctuary for bears is doing good work, but I wouldn't recommend visiting. The enclosures are small and the bears are behind several fences with no clear vantage points. The bears are exhibiting signs of stress like repetitive movements and constant pacing. Noisy Greek children shouting at each other probably don't help the situation. All information and explanations from the guides are given in Greek only. Donate 5 to WWF Greece and spend your day walking in the nearby woods instead.
The whole family enjoyed the experience, and especially the interesting information provided by the guided tour. Well worth the trip and very glad we went. As an added bonus the village of Nymfaios is exquisite and very very beautiful.
If you value the life of animals, then you'll absolutely love this place. The work that the people working here, have done is amazing. The scenery, the forest is like from a fairy tale. Totally worth visiting, maybe more than once!!
