In 1971, a new, beautiful place steals the heart of Anestis Babatzimopoulos, owner of A. Babatzim & Co. A place where wine was traditionally produced; the slopes of mountain Vertiskos. There he installs the first test vineyard, after which he expands it, at the same time applying the rules of organic cultivation to 100s of sq. meters, making it the first organically cultivated vineyard in Greece. The constant expansion creates the need for a new winery at the center of the vineyard and in 1999 the construction begins. Today, Domaine Babatzimopoulos is open to visitors from all over the world. It has its own winery producing wine only from the vineyard, aging cellars, tasting rooms, seminars rooms, a restaurant and a cafe. The winery produces white, rose and red wines solely from the grapes of the vineyard. Among the 26 varieties cultivated in ideal climate conditions are the foreign varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah & Ugni Blanc, and the Greek varieties Xinomavro, Roditis, Malvasia & Malagousia.
