Even though we were not informed about the toll station that is right outside the airport where we got our rental right after flying in, the lady that helped us with paying for the toll by filling out a report (that looked like we were selling the deeds to a vast estate) was very kind and even apologetic about our situation. PS make sure you have 2.80 on you before you leave the airport, otherwise, the usual 30 second stop becomes a 30min adventure of Greek and English juggling at a lovely 2am part of the night.

In several countries just need to send one sms with the car plate number and no need to stop, look for coins, touch hands, wait for rest, waste paper. Things could be improved. Could be cameras on the highway and those people who work now just could check. Even for this are softwares now who recognise the car plate number.

As a general rule I dislike tolls, but I understand why they exist. In this case they have you pay a toll not far out of the airport. My in-laws live one exit past where the toll is set up and paying often since they pick up people from the airport all the time. From my in-laws house toward athens there is another toll between their house and the stores. The tolls in the states if you have their pass you can drive right through without slowing down. The tolls here you have to slow down to a crawl so that the equipment has time to register your chip.

I don't like tolls and they are expensive for the distance covered.
