No wheelchair-accessible entrance
We visited the diolkos yesterday on foot (NOT the best idea), and besides the long walk and menacing packs of stray dogs, we found this neglected place of historical significance quite interesting. It worths a quick stop-by if you’re driving from Corinthos to Loutraki, to see the dioklos and the view of the canal.

One of the country's foremost Sunsets and incredible blue and green palette, as the west situated bridge unites two gulfs.An eternal path to walk, knowning the way ancient mariners rolled their ships to the other side.
Amazing ancient remains with no signage or any other indication of the historical significance.

Το μνημείο ήταν παρατημένο για δεκαετίες και επιτέλους γίνεται μια προσπάθεια συντήρησης/ανάδειξης. Εκτός από το μικρό μέρος στη νότια πλευρά της γέφυρας που είναι ορατό όπως περνάς με το αυτοκίνητο, έχει καθαριστεί και το λίγο μεγαλύτερο μέρος στη βόρεια πλευρά της γέφυρας. Επίσης, ανεσκάφη και αποκαλύφθηκε ένα μικρό μέρος νότια των παλιών γραφείων του ισθμού Ποσειδωνίας. Δυστυχώς το μεγαλύτερο μέρος που ένωνε τα δύο σημεία το βλέπαμε αργά-αργά να το παίρνει η θάλασσα με τα χρόνια. Με μια πολύ μικρή προσπάθεια πριν 40-50 χρόνια το μνημείο θα είχε σωθεί πλήρως. Κρίμα! Το καλύτερα συντηρημένο μέρος βρίσκεται εντός του στρατοπέδου του μηχανικού και το χαιρόμαστε από τις φωτογραφίες!
