Long twisty drive from Athens, but definitely worth it! The temple walk itself is guided by a flat path, with notice boards all around telling stories and facts about the temple and the local area. The place is beyond stunning, each visit we encounter new things, would highly recommend. You can go as a day trip, or for a holiday - plenty of hotels to stay at. After sightseeing, we visited Sunio beach below the Temple, soaked up the sun, had a swim & some lunch on the beach at a beautiful restaurant.

Very impressive place, easy to find with a car. Absolutely magical at the time of sunset or on a full moon. The view was breathtaking. The temple was closed due to covid but it still looked great.

One of the most iconic Greek templates. The beauty of this cape with the white temple on top is unparallel. This was the first thing sees could see, while getting closer to Attica. Aegeus jumped from this cliff thinking his son was dead when he saw ships without a white sail returning from Crete. A tragic mistake and the birth of the Aegean Sea.

This place is absolutely magical, make sure to look up the time of sunset on the day you are going, and yes you need to see the sunset otherwise you are really missing out. Most importantly be there an hour before because if the ladies are feeling lazy they will close the gate and not let anyone else in. You can bribe them all you want it won't help. But definitely an eye catcher go check it out. Let me know if you have any questions and please leave me a like if this was helpful

It is about 2 hours bus ride from central Athens, the coastal line is a more scenic route. Leave Athens midday to ensure that you get to the Cape of Sounion before the sunset. There may not be much to do once you get there but being able to watch seabirds coming and going over the Aegean Sea while trying to stand still in the face of strong wind could be a fun and relaxing way to be close to the mother nature. After the sun went below the horizon totally and before the bus returning to Athens arrives, get yourself a hot chocolate at the cafe, their free wifi code is printed on the table!

We drove to Sounio in time to watch the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon. What we didn't expect was to stumble upon a classical concert being filmed and televised here. What an amazing experience! The views where breathtaking with the bonus of sitting and listening to classical singers with a choir and full orchestra. Beautiful atmosphere It was the highlight of our trip to Athens!
