Immaculate square. The place smells of new even though it represents a completely different era of Thessaloniki. And a great spot to meet other people, the local authorities have done a great job in upgrading this place from a derelict relic to the hottest place in the city. Is there room for improvement? Yes there is, but the square sit suits the city perfectly as it is.
open area right on the bay of Thessaloniki, loads of space, a very nice pedestrian/bike pathway all along the sea for any kind of activities: You can find live music, people just casually drinking, food stalls and even quick tour boats for a beer under the sunset in the middle of the sea and you get double the views! the beautiful evening sky and the beautiful Thessaloniki lights. Definitely recommend if you're out of places to go to because covid.
Major tourist site, with a museum inside. You can rent an audio guide when you buy your ticket (no extra fee just leave a form of ID as collateral). People usually stop on the first couple of floors up, but as that gets old quick, people wind their way to the top so they can all take the same selfie but claim theirs is different. I felt a little bad for the museum attendants on the upper floors, because nobody wanted to spend time there listening to boring stories.
It is an amazing place to hang around in bug groups as well as just sit around calmly and read your book or watch people while breathing the fresh breeze coming across the sea from the Olymp mountain. This place is amazing because there are many places to sit and it's open for everyone. The infrastructure and how the city is build is really very nice. Compact and with a nice ordered structure.
In front of the White Tower, there is a monument of Admiral Nikos Votsis, hero of the Balkan wars. The sculptor was George Dinitriadis. On October 2012, Admiral Votsis sank the flagship Turkish batleship. Recommend!
It's a boat and a bar. There is no fee for entrance. You just pay what you consume during a 30 min long trip. They have option to go in a day or night boat trip. The drinks are a bit expensive, but the price is justified since there isn't a entrance fee.
Busy square where people just hang out. Old style boats set sail from here. One demostration seemed to have ended here, the Albanians against the war.
