What could someone say for this amazing museum? Truly nice organized and with a huge variety of things to see and to get to know the history of the area of Thiva! Highly recommended! Cannot omit to mention that the staff was truly nice and kind!

This is such a great find. The thorough research on the history of Greece is absolutely incredible. Make time to spend while here if history is your thing. Beautiful!!! Well done.

One of the best museums in Greece. Well organized exhibition, with great findings. The proper use of multimedia makes the exhibition even more educational and proper for children. If you pass by This u must visit it.

Very interesting museum. Worth visiting! About 1 hour is enough. A lot of stuff about very old history of Greece from Bronze Age and also 4 century BC. Definitely visit it while traveling around. The rest of city sux. There is literally nothing. Go to Lidl for cheap food hehe :)

Get here if you can! This is an outstanding museum, one of the very best in Greece. It features artifacts from the Neolithic through Byzantium periods, all beautifully displayed and well explained. Plan to spend at least two hours here. The museum is large and there’s a lot to see.

The museum of Thebes is worthy of the history of this ancient city.Amazing collection of antiquities from various eras, beautifully presented in a modern building.

Worth to drive for and really does deserve more visitors than when we visited late July. Does tell the exciting history from a human settlement now more than 4500 year old and with a lot of Greek history to have happened right next door. Good storytelling and a great exhibition with some fine specimens presented. Worth putting an effort getting there for. We put in as a stop on the way to the Delfi temple from Schinias.

When I tried to enter the museum and asked for the admission fees (as I am a university student) the woman in the ticket office (Sunday morning, 6th of September) asked for my age and said that I had no discount as the reduced fees were not for students anymore but for people under 25 regardless if they were studying or not. This does not comply with the information of the official website. However, I accepted and said that I would visit. At that moment, she told me that I might be asked to put something around my waist as my pants were too short. I am wearing a completely normal outfit for summer and then we are going to the seaside, so yes, it’s a bit short but not as disrispectful as the clerk, who, when I asked why would that happen if this was not a church but a public museum, she just replied with a very disapproving look to my legs. I thanked her for the assistance and left. I would never expect this coming from a woman, in this century and even less to access a public institution. Really disappointed as history is my field of study and I wanted truly to acces the museum. However, my belief is that no woman should accept being treated like this.
