In every other country, this antique jewel would be put in a museum, and people charged tickets to see it. In Greece, there are so many antiquities and Greeks are such generous people, they left it on a road side to be displayed for every one to see it, FOR FREE. In a small forest, the Lion keeps memory of the old heroic times alive. There is no other nation with such history as Greece. We, the peoples of Europe are grateful for ever for all the heritage, socijal and materijal, this great nation had spread all over our continent.

Perfect spot for perfect trip down the ancient memory lane. With a fascinating story! 4/5 because I would very much appreciate to have it all cleaned up and create something recreational around it so that more people wpuld know its existence and history.

This was amazing, the lion is amazing and massive. There is a parking area opposite and it is literally on the corner of the road, so no walking boots required.Very beautiful and glad we drove to see it

5000 years of history in Amphipolis. You have to visit the rest of the areas and museum, to get a full perspective. A. C. Odyssey players will likely get goosebumps.

An epic monument, as far I know found by Greek soldiers during the Second Balkan War. As far I know i is a forth century before Christ tomb sculpture in honor of an one of the important generals of Alexander the Great. There's a big parking lot, so if you are traveling in direction from Seres to south is a good stop for a rest.

The lion of Amphipolis is truly remarkable. Elevated at an altitude of 10-12 meters. Symbol of the Macedonians. It's at the road. Guardian of the ancient tomb, which is currently excavated on a nearby hill. The statue is located on the road to Amphipolis, where there are many remains of an ancient Greek city.
