Small but well formed museum near the entrance of the ancient site. The building is 4 wings based off a central courtyard. A must when in the area sume interesting displays

Breathtakingly beautiful art, an astonishingly well preserved ancient city, and a wealth of information make up this otherworldly look into a world that is so far removed, yet familiar to our own modern era way of living. This place truly puts the world in which we live into great perspective.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth was constructed between 1931-1932, with intentions to display the numerous recent archaeological excavations. The museum is located within the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, Greece, and lies under the jurisdiction of the 37th Ephoreia of the Greek Archaeological Service. The building was designed by architect Stuart Thompson, constructed by the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, with respect to a generous donation made by Ada Small Moore. Thompson’s design of the museum derived from the architectural model of the “Chicago school”. In 1951, the west part of the building was extended, allowing space within the museum to be organised around two atriums.
A really nice archaeological museum. It has a large number of collections and all the exhibits have detailed information. It includes four halls and a beautiful patio full of statues. In 2016, the eastern hall was added, where exhibits from the Corinthian sanctuaries were exhibited, as well as the twin Kouros of the cemetery of ancient Tenea. Highly recommended!
At the entrance of the archaeological site is the archaic temple of Apollo built in 530 B.C. At present, only seven pillars remain standing. These too were the only visible construction before the excavations. The museum houses a large collection of artifacts of the local archaeological site. Exhibits include statues, mosaics, pottery, and sarcophagi. This was built in 1931 and had an expansion in 1950. My favorite part of the museum is the room with statues of Roman rulers, floor mosaics, wall painting and Roman and Byzantine pottery. It's a good thing that we were there early (the museum opens at 8AM), so there were only a few people. Kudos to the museum staff who were all helpful and well-versed about all that the museum had to offer.
The site itself is quite picturesque with its surroundings - so worth going if you are interested in ancient history. However, it's too costly and you can see most of it from the outside. Unfortunately, the staff is extremely unkind and unhelpful, which made the whole experience a bit unpleasant for us.
Very much enjoyed our time at the museum. Such a beautiful location.
A great museum that you must visit if you are in the area! The walk around the museum is beautiful and you can really appreciate the history because it's not overcrowded. The ticket is half price (4) in the autumn and winter months.
