cute but short collection. Vénus is a copy. Paris should give it back

Small museum with only a few rooms, on one level. We found it by chance, when we got lost looking for the Folk Museum. There is ancient art as well as, its modern counterparts. It was an easy walk through, although we were constantly being watched. I guess too many people probably try to touch the exhibits.
Nice place to stop in your hike through Plaka. Very friendly personal. You'll see the exact replica of the famous "Venus from Milos" (on exhibit in Louvre, Paris) found here (they call it "Aphrodite from Milos" though). The bus stop is visible from the front square and you can spend some time by playing gigantic chess while waiting for your bus.
Nice small museum. It's a pity that the authentic Venus de Milos is still in the Louvre (France) and not where it belongs, in Milos. Here you can see a replicat.
Small museum, not that pricey to see though (2euro each), definitely a welcome stop in Plaka. The museum doesn’t contextualize the history that much. The selection is mostly vases and clay drinking vessels. There are some more interesting pieces though like a few early pottery pieces representing bulls. I learned about the psi/phi/tau shapes of early depictions of people. When we visited they had a modern art selection that was inspired from the ancient art, I liked that a lot.
We had a great time with excellent ladies looking after us. Terrific relics and New art .
This is a very small historical museum that houses the finds of art and cultural pieces of history discovered on the island. Here you could see replica of the very famous Aphrodite, she was discovered on Milos. Also displays recent art from artists as well.
Very small but beautiful building, interesting exhibits and friendly staff
