SCAM ALERT. The old Europe hostel trick of accepting your booking but moving you to their other building down the street. I booked Athens Backpackers as I liked the description and facilities of the hostel. But my room is in their other building across the suburb. The other building doesn't have the hostel lounge or chill rooftop bar. The other rooms are in a noisy street above a rowdy sports bar and burger bar. I didnt get the hostel experience I booked, I'm in a shared appartment with no hostel facilities and not even a place to sit, except out on the street. But I can "walk back to Athens Backpackers any time I like..." The manager has a good story to blame hostelworld. But the scam is an old trick many hostels play...

I had a really nice stay at Backpackers Hostel ,it’s very central ,the rooms are very clean ,great atmosphere,the stuff there is so friendly and welcoming ,for sure I will come again and I recommend everyone to stay at this beautiful place ️
Great place to stay in city centre.. very near to acropolis of Athens. Main attractive one is free breakfast and roof top bar
I can’t say enough bad things about this soulless corporate housing bait and switch scheme. Frankly, I’m SHOCKED hostelworld condones it. I made my reservation with Athens backpackers which offers a common area, rooftop bar and other important amenities. Due to an epic con job bait and switch the room I booked and paid more for and the room I was given were two different things. Making matters worse, I had a medical emergency at the airport. I spoke with the owner on the way from the airport and he ASSURED me I was in the proper backpacker’s location, and then gave the cab driver the exact opposite address! They could care less about travelers and their well being. They only care about their morally corrupt bottom line. Anything to make a buck. The WIFI was horrible, disconnecting every 45 minutes or so if you were using it or not and every time you’d have to retype the password. As if you typed ANGUSBURGER enough you would have to go downstairs and buy one. They won’t even store your luggage for free! I booked for 3 days and switched hostels as soon as I could escape. It appeared they had very few rooms they were using; they just kept 2 rooms filled with 6 people and didn’t seem to put any guests in the other rooms at all. There was zero common area and holes in the bathroom door. In over 2 years of continuous travelling this was the WORST hostel experience. STEER CLEAR!!!
The crew is amazing! Very friendly and helpful. The room is really nice, with a nice balcony, a small kitchen and private bathroom (for 6 people dorms). There's a restaurant, part of the hostel, which has amazing burgers. I will just mention that the original place is closed due to renovations, so I stayed at Backpackers Studios. Highly recommend!
Hostel is good because its near to train station, near to Acropolis, downtown. 2mint walk to train station, lots of restaurants around the hostel. I find a bit trouble to find it because the directions were not accurate. Hope they will put some signs of arrow so people can find it easily. 4 people in one room, breakfast included but its only bread, some eggs and tea coffee. Not much choices.
A really nice place to stay. It very close to everything you want to see in Athens) Free breakfasts and great location. Enjoy staying here
The quality of staff service at this hostel is definitely dependent on who is running the front desk. As hosts of a well known hostel in the center of Athens its unacceptable that the vibe can go from friendly, helpful and full of joyful character to a disrespectful and hostile behavior. Rooms however are clean and organized yet quite simple. A small Kitchen is included in the rooms but not the most equipped appliances.
