One of the most original places in Athens, the fish and meat markets offer lots of options in affordable prices. Watch out, many of the stores offer low quality products or foreign products sold as greek. If you pass by the fish market be aware that your shoes will definitely pickup a heavy fish smell that will follow you for the rest of the day

Interesting place to see if you want to buy fresh meat or fish. I preferred the fruit and vegetable section. It looks very organic and taste far better than in other places. Prices are reasonable as well. Worth a visit and try.

We were looking to see the fish market only and it seems to be isolated from the meat markets. Nevertheless, interesting to see all the big fresh fishes, a shark head and some squids and octopuses. It's wet and you'll get splashed by a bit by water of some shops, so wear appropriately. The vendors there seem to dislike tourists, as soon they saw my camera, they instantly change mood and trying to get rid of you by giving you an annoyed stare or waving no to taking pictures. Unless you're white, then they seem more willing to let you take pictures like a group of American tourists next to me openly taking pictures of the shops and their products. A bit racist of the vendors if you ask me.

A unique place in Athens. Local shops, fresh meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables. The floor could be wet and at mid day the seafood doesn't smell so fresh anymore but in general a very nice experience.
