The place you have to visit in order to understand that those days should NEVER come back. 230 people(children/women/men) slaughtered this day by nazis in WW2 in 1944.

Pretty horrible what happened here and what this mausoleum reminds us of. One can only hope that these things do not happen again; they do, however, everyday and everywhere. It could be said that it is happening again to Greece, in a much more subtle way. The powers that be do not need guns to massacre. They can do so with economic tools. Such an important monument to visit and to experience! So well kept and maintained!

If you are passing through Distomo then it is worth stopping for a moment at this monument. 200 people From Distomo of all ages were massacred by the Nazis in 1944 in retaliation. The monument is stark and sobre and has stunning views over the vines and olive groves of the area.

Ένα μνημείο που θυμίζει τις θηριωδίες των ναζί στο Δίστομο, μετά τις μάχες του ΕΛΑΣ με τα γερμανικά στρατεύματα κ την αποχώρηση του ΕΛΑΣ από την περιοχή. Θα μπορούσε βέβαια να υπάρχει κ ένας φύλακας ή ξεναγός στο σημείο του μνημείου.
