One of the must see places on the island of Naxos. Before you visit it you must get the basic information regarding the Kouros ... it is available on the web.
This is about 30 feet long. A little underwhelming but great to checkout if you are on this side of the island. In my opinion it is not worth the drive for just this. Beaches are good in the town below.
Just so visually awesome and then to consider how old it is - is truly incredible. Well worth the visit.
Not as impressive as you might have imagined, marble statue-to-be but never left the rock from which it is carved. The view is nice, and it's a good break before driving back to Naxos.
Worth the brief stop on the way to Apollonas. This is a very impressive site overlooking the coast and the town. After seeing the Kouros at Melanes you might think that they could all be similar, but this is not quite the case. While in Melanes the surroundings are an attraction by themselves, the Kouros in Apollonas has it all, the detail, the size and the surroundings.
While a very small site, it is easy to reach and you should go to if you come to Apollonas.
The Apollonas Kouros is located on the northest part of the island, a little far away from everything but on the way there you can find a lot of interesting places (like the Tower of Aya) The statue itself is quite amazing, the proportions are breathtaking, its enormous size - about 10 meters long - and the pores of the marble indicate its long history. I'd visit if I were you, but don't expect too much, you might be disappointed! 4 stars for the experience, go try it out yourselves peeps!
