A fortified station on the Via Egnatia dates back to the late Byzantine period (13th-14th centuries) with some changes from the early Turkish period, when it was used as a 'caravanseray' until about 16th century. Preserved are some fortress walls. The interior of the castle ruin is completely overgrown with shrubs.
