Idra, Greece

This is a must for a visit and a wonderful opportunity for a weekend excursion. The rich traditional architecture and history is travelling the visitors back in time where you can dream about the life and battles that have taken place. We will be definately be back to discover more treasures of this jewel in the Argosaronic Gulf.

Very beautiful city with a nice harbor. Whater available. 12 Euro for around 400 liters. The inner area of the harbor is quiet crowded. You have to anchor at the outer mole. Not that good protected and the ferries are coming in quiet fast making big swell.
So one of our goals was to visit Hydra. We arrived early having left Ermioni at 8:00 am and found that the harbour was already crammed with visiting yachts. So having poked our noses into the harbour entrance we quickly came to our senses and headed east, dropping anchor in Mandraki and walked round to Hydra Town. This is a very tourist rich island and has all the usual Blackpool tourist traps, souvenirs and 'tat'. It is also full of cats, lots of cats! They are persistent, cunning critters and will stop at nothing to get their chins tickled. Whenever we stopped and sat down for a meal one of us would end up with a cat on our lap. The town itself is beautiful, the whitewashed buildings, narrow cobbled streets and the atmosphere make this one of the most stunning places I have visited. Shopping here is good. Lots of places to stock up on food, drinks etc. Tourist shops not unduly expensive and the compulsory T-Shirts were purchased. Night life is dominated by harbourside restaurants serving delicious food. Amazing place...
The Port of Hydra is absolutely stunning! It is like an illustration from a 15th century painting. (sans the modern yachts) Hydra Island is definitely worth a visit for a day or two. (There are private water taxis available if you miss your ferry) The town is lovely - there is so much to explore: historical sites, architectural treats, lovely artisanal boutiques, restaurants, bars.
No traffic, nice restaurants and shops. Lively but relaxed. We loved it
Great fantastic place. Go deeper to explore some more. Super nice lovely spot
Too difficult to find a spot for your boat. Not enough berths for such a well known place.
Lovely place. Great food. Traffic free island
