The community centre is housed in an ottoman building renovated in the 1980s. The building was the mosque of a teke belonging to the Bektashi muslims. Gazi Deli Husein Pasha who was Commander in Chief of the ottoman troops established the teke, in support of the Horasani Zade Mevlana Dervish Ali Dede followers, offering adequate resources for the cause in September 1650. Horasani Zade was appointed leader of the Bektashi dervishes during the Cretan War and was, eventually, buried in a mausoleum in the teke's courtyard in 1671. By 1710 the place was abandoned and underwent renovation in 1711 and 1811, the second time by sheikh Dervish Ali Baba who, also, added the mosque. He is considered the calligrapher of the ottoman inscription that is still visible above the door. The Horasani Zade turbe survives incorporated into the courtyard of a nearby private property.
