Kalambaka Educational, Literary and Cultural Civil Not for Profit Company (KDK) renovated and refurbished the Municipal Library, located in the city center. The renovation project started in Summer 2013 and the new Library opened in Summer 2015. Through an agreement with the Municipality, KDK will manage and operate the new Library for a minimum of 5 and up to a maximum of 15 years, when the Library will revert to the management of the Municipality. The new Library is a cultural anchor in the city, with a special focus on the needs of children and teens. There are 45 schools in the municipality of Kalambaka of which 14 are located in Kalambaka town. KDK’s goal, based on a comprehensive business plan, is for the Library to become a hub of creativity and opportunity, preparing the next generation of Kalambakiotes, as well as the population of the surrounding area, to thrive in the global future.
