To call Rothon garden simply garden would be wrong and unfair. Rothon is an eco-project. It is the idea of bringing man closer to nature. At about 40 kilometers from Athens, in the Greek countryside, this small farm / NPO has interesting ideas that should be taken into consideration. "We have projects in collaboration with restaurant chefs, some of them don't even know how an aubergine plant looks like. We lost our connection to the nature." That's how Costas, the founder of Rothon, talks about it. But not only this project is aimed to bring people close to the nature, one sixth of the transactions is given back to the community with an environmental cause. In this eco-farm there are many projects. It is possible to rent small pieces of land for projects. It is possible to take yoga classes and reconnect with nature. They have some Skyros ponies and also other farm animals with which a person can interact and take care. They would like to grow their food and be at zero kilometer (even if it is difficult without being able to use any pesticides, not even the "natural" ones like copper sulfate). The hospitality of Costas is also very pleasant. I went there because my family knew they had ponies but in the end we discovered a lot more. Rothon garden is a project still in its infancy, it needs supporters and developement but has great possibilities. I highly recommend, to all those who have an eye for nature, to visit their website for more information.
