Katheti* is a non for profit NGO for the promotional of sustainable development through culture and education. Its seat is in Galatas and its activities take place in the broader area of Municipalities of Troizinia-Methana and Poros. However, it has a network of collaborators and friends throughout Greece and abroad. In its venue in Galatas, on 25 Martiou st., as well as in other venues of the area, it organises educational activities and cultural events, aiming firstly at children and youth, as well as the public in general. Cinema and book club, skill building and career development seminars and services, Greek language and culture courses, as well as exhibitions are some of its first areas of interest. Meanwhile, soon works will commence for the renovation of the future permanent “home” of Katheti, the old tavern and home of Sotiris Kerras in Pounta, on the seaside road of Poros. There, Katheti will be able to develop the whole spectrum of its activities, such as visual and performing arts. *katheti [kaθetí] is a fishing equipment that consists of a fine fishing line, with a weight and one or more hooks on the one end, which is wrapped around a rectangular piece of cork on the other end.
