Peace in your soul and the nature.. Holly spirit.. Visit with humbleness the very small Chapel of the monastery!

The hike is mostly easy, last third of the way is uphill. With many stops there and back took overall 4 hours. Really fun hike and beautiful views from the monestary.

If you are lucky enough to be in this place, do not hesitate to take this almost 5km walk route to the Holy Monastery of Stomio. You will be certainly rewarder by its wild natural beauty, small features of the traditional architecture and by the hospitality of the few monks that reside in the Monastery. I would go again any time. Just make sure you are wearing hiking/sport shoes. When iced, the path can be a little slippery.

Very much enjoyed our visit here. We parked at the ancient stone bridge and hiked about 4 or 5 km to the monastery in light rain. The canyon and river are delightful and the trail is fine, running mostly flat along the river while rising rapidly to the monastery at the end. The monks were very welcoming and we enjoyed looking inside the church, sampling their honeyed sweet treats and taking in the impressive view up and down the canyon gorge from a platform behind the church. Hike was long enough and had enough elevation gain to be modestly strenuous but was not difficult and was pleasant throughout.

In one of the most impressive locations of our country, in the ravine of Aoos, between the steep slopes of Tymphi (height 2497 m) and Trapezitsa (height 2024 m) is the Monastery of Panagia Stomiou. The monastery's original position, founded in 1442, is located on the opposite slopes of Trapezitsa, where the name \Paliomonastero\ is preserved. In its current position, in an elevated elevation of the lower altitudes of the slopes of Tymphis, it was moved by the abbot Constantine in 1774. From the almost total destruction of the Monastery by the German army in 1943, only the temple was rescued.
