Ancient sanctuary and site of archaeological interest located in Nea Makri. It is believed that it was built by Herodes Atticus around 160 AD. Herodes chose Marathon to establish the sanctuary because it was his place of origin and residence. The complex was probably located within the boundaries of the estate he owned in the area. Entrance is free and worth a visit.

The sanctuary of the Egyptian gods, not only in the piramids, but all over the world!
Good thing was the free entry, most statues were covered in plastic bags. Only 2 were on display
very nice .Greece is the archeologist and historians paradise of many interested sites that need to be discovered online offline . before you travel.... need to do our your homework first before you travel. well we hope the new government is not the same .
A small jewel in Nea Makri that needs much more attention to shine.
If you are into history, it's a great place to go to. Or do this tour with a guide. Also a lot of the places are being retouched or strengthened, so you can't really see all of it.
Beautiful archeological site. It was near our hotel and we were surprised to find such a place.
