The Touch the Past project is a project about participation, cultural heritage and green ecological awareness. It refers to local communities and especially to the new generation (children, teenagers) in order to empower cultural and ecological consciousness. It aims to improve cultural heritage management methods and techniques via technological improvement and eco green perspective. We use open-source developed technology which we improve in order to satisfy the needs of the local communities. More specifically, members of our community use open source software and instructions to construct themselves innovative shredders for plastic for recycling personal waste. Secondly, we design machinery equipment to turn the recycled plastic flakes into 3D wire filament which we use for our 3D printers. Finally, we deliver workshops for people and people with disabilities and visual impairments in which, they use 3D printed molds of ancient artifacts, reproduce the art and understand it by touch. In comparison to all technological solutions referred to plastic recycling, we develop a technology simple and efficient enough to be used by everyone and people with disabilities. Our vision is to include everyone in recycling activities and cultural understanding at the same time.
