Its main activities relate to: -Modern technologies and decision making systems for appropriate municipal solid waste management schemes selection -Climate change (adaptation, mitigation) -Lab and pilot-scale systems, including state-of-the-art technologies for wastewater and solid waste treatment -Environmental pollution prevention and control -Inventory programs concerning solid waste and wastewater production -Appropriate schemes for integrated management of municipal solid waste, waste water, special types solid waste (batteries, plastics, used oils, used tyres, end-of-life vehicles, construction and demolition waste, WEEE, etc.) as well as hazardous waste at local and national level. -Decision making systems for: the selection of the appropriate installation of waste and wastewater treatment plants site and the estimation and time prediction of pollution in contaminated sites -EIA -Simulation models and other software tools -LCA, eco-design end-of-life management of various products -Air Pollution and pollution prevention and control -Energy Engineering: Energy conservation in the industry. -Renewable energy systems: Geothermal, Biomass, Solar, and Wind. Energy Co-generation. Coal Combustion, Gasification and liquefaction, Biomass Gasification -Process Engineering, Reaction synthesis, optimisation of single and multiple objectives, Modelling and control of polymerisation reactors, dynamic simulation of systems.
