This museum consists of the residence of Alexander Rome. President of the Hellenic Parliament and organizer of the Greek Erythroids, in which he fought in the battles for the liberation of Ioannina, Alexander is one of the most distinguished personalities of modern Greek political and military history. The building was built in the 1660s by Zakynthos's English consul Robert John Geoffrey. During the period of English Protection (1816-64) it was used as a residence of the English Resident and was known as "Residence". The building was purchased by Alexander Roma in 1880 and has since been the seat of the family. From then until World War II it was the center of one of the two major political formations on the island (Roman Party). This building is today the only example of a mansion left in Zakynthos after the 1953 earthquakes, in which it suffered extensive damage. After 1955 it was partially rebuilt by the former owner of the well-known author Dionysus Roma.
