Not a lot of animals to see, but it is a great place to relax in nature and have a quality time with your child. You can see ducks, horses, a fox, goats, deer etc and you can have a picnic since there are a lot of wooden tables and benches where you can sit. The Zoo is open from 9 till 17h.
Good potential but definitely needs care.
This little zoo as seen finer days. It’s still worth a visit to see the beautiful grounds set on the hill and to see the exhibits and imagine them for what they once were. I imagine it to be what a zoo would look like in Rivendale, the world of the elves, from Lord of the Rings. The zoo is definitely not handicap accessible. And is sitting on the hill is not for the faint of heart so make sure you’re up to the task of a small hike to get from the bottom to the top. Most people in Thessaloniki don’t even know they have a zoo so it was a treat to find out that they actually did. Hopefully the government can find funds after the austerity measures prove out. My guess is that fighting unemployment and rebuilding and maintaining municipal infrastructure will have priority over restoring this zoo back to its glory days.
It was nice, comfy and the animals seems well taken care off. I ve seen a lot of zoos, many are enclosed in cages, but not this one, oh no no no, this one is open air and you can make contact with the animals. The only complaint is the lack of diversity.
Not well maintained. Feel sorry for the few animals there (deer, a donkey and different birds) in unclean cages. In a nice shaded forest area and is free at least
Very few animals, don't know why But free entrance
This zoo is not properly maintained. You can have a nice walk in a very natural environment, with farm animals, but the only wilderness is an ill - looking fox. This Zoo used to be the biggest in northern Greece so it deserves attention, bringing in new animals for wildlife education and proper maintenance.
