One of the iconic places in the Mani. Once a thriving hill top village replete with tower houses, some converted to hostels, some derelict, some undergoing renovation and some just forlorn. Quite moving to walk around, the echoes of past residents, just discernable in the twisting passages and paths. A must stop in village. Currently no café open. But pause here anyway.

Too bad it's deserted and not utilized properly. A lot of people would love to stay here while visiting Mani...
Fascinating and haunting place. Worth the drive but approach is tight for big vehicles.
Beautiful spot. Stole there for a ten minute break. When we went, unfortunately both restaurants were closed to sit and have a drink.
One of the most famous traditional village/ fortress of the Mani Peninsula. A typical example of Mani's architecture with the stoned towers/houses. Picturesque scenery, medieval atmposphere. Beautiful historical place, absolutely worth visiting.
Amazing historic place.
Mani is a great place to visit but Váthia has got to be one of the top places to see in Greece. It's practically abandoned, it looks eerie and haunted... It's a magical place that makes you wonder what could have happened and it ended up deserted.... You need to be careful in places.
A wonderful Stones Castle City ... But it needs Maintenance !
