Logistically the port is madness unleashed. I would avoid going straight to the port after a long international flight. If it's your first time there, do get there early. At least 30-40 min before the scheduled time of departure. The chances are your boat will be a bit late, but at least you will have time to figure out the logistics of getting onboard. Especially if you are getting on with a car. It will be very confusing and unorganized, try to follow someone's car (who looks like a local and has done this many times) Right across the port there are many convenient cafes to wait for your ferry once you get your tickets from the agencies. The best thing is to print out your tickets beforehand. The port's ferries do offer convenient routes. Travelled with Fast Ferries - nice amenities inside: cafes, many restrooms, kids rooms. Do splurge for the Business Class tickets if you enjoy semi privacy, air conditioning and 3 crying babies, instead of 20. The ferries do get VERY crowded during summer.
A very busy port. Limited parking spaces. But a great getaway to the greek islands.
Best port to get away to the greek islands.
It's much more tidy than the chaotic port of Piraeus, but it would be better if it had a couple of nightclubs around the port, not only taverns.
You can discover many islands from here, but you can also have a walk with a view of the endless sea. Also nice places for food or coffee.
Quite a convenient port for Cyclades - In my opinion more routes should be served from Rafina port (especially those relating to North East Aegean Islands) to decongest Piraeus Port and to save travelling time for passengers! During the summer it gets quite busy and you get to stuck in the car because the whole area is overcrowded, which indicates lack of planning and facilities!
Pretty busy port, specially at the summer days with daily ferries to Cyclades islands.
